Summary/Abstract: The paper focuses on the discussion and interpretations of the terms denoting “frog (toad)” in Western New Iranian. It attempts particularly to clarify the origin of an obscure lexeme in Classical Persian commenting in this regard on some issues of the Iranian historical phonology.
