UNESCO Charter on the preservation of digital heritage

Summary/Abstract: The article is the first Slovenian translation of the UNESCO Charter on the preservation of digital heritage. The translation is followed by the author’s commentary, which not only explains the charter’s key highlights but also describes the response that the charter has received thus far, the activities that have been taken to promote this charter and issues concerning the preservation of digital heritage in general, and the events that accompanied the adoption of the charter. The article identifies some of the other EU strategic documents aimed at solving issues of long-term accessibility to the European cultural heritage.
