Summary/Abstract: Knowing that it is never easy to draw up a scientific assessment of the work of a jurist, this contribution recounts the activity of Léontin-Jean Constantinesco on several frameworks. As a young Romanian jurist exiled in Western Europe, he was keen to serve, by various means, his country, which had become a nation captive to Soviet imperialism (1). His attraction for the European construction, which began in the aftermath of the war and which appeared to him as a pole of freedom in a threatening international environment, made him, along with others, one of the pioneers of European Union law (2). Finally, Léontin-Jean Constantinesco can also be considered as one of the architects of comparative law, in the sense that he sought to give comparative law the status of a science, or of an autonomous discipline, going beyond the role of simple method, which is generally associated with it (3).
