Summary/Abstract: One of the effects of taking over the power in Germany by adolf Hitler was a change in the German policy towards Poland. From the middle of 1933 until the beginning of 1939 hostile actions were replaced by a drive towards achieving and stabilizing good-neighbourly relations. according to Hitler’s plans, that move was intended to, among others, facilitate Germany’s breaking out of the international isolation and including Poland in the anti-Soviet bloc. to Poland, making a pact with the Reich offered a chance of putting off the threat of revisionist movements towards altering the borderline and averting the danger of sacrificing Polish interests by western superpowers for their own ends. the article discusses the Polish-German relations in this respect on the basis of publications found in two dailies of the interwar period – „Polska Zbrojna” and „Gazeta Polska”. Both papers were dependent on the camp that wielded the power in Poland after 1926. Consequently, they repeatedly served as a platform which the authorities used to announce their standpoint, a tool in the diplomatic game, as well as an instrument meant to shape society’s moods. For this reason both papers secured propagandist support for the idea of politically getting closer to Germany, and – since the Spring of 1939 – mobilized society to prepare for a possible military conflict. the press texts which were analyzed cover both the sphere of political relations and questions pertaining to economy, culture and sport. in this way, they offer a wide review of the events going on in the Polish-German relations seen from the perspective of a given political group.
