A Selection of Sayings of Orthodox Spiritual men

Summary/Abstract: What we see is only a small selection of sayings by Orthodox spiritual men complied by prof. dr. Rifat Klopić. The selection is a part of extensive material that was prepared by the professor for the book which will soon see the light of day, with God’s help. The book gathers in one place the thoughts of a large number of great spiritual men from every corner of the Earth and from every religious affiliation. Our intention with this selection is to bring closer to the readers and show them how many similarities, and often identicalness, exists in the minds of great spiritual men of all heavenly religions, those spiritual men whose mind was inspired by the Absolute Who fulfills all creation, with the emphasis on Orthodox clergymen, since two papers of this issue of the magazine Living Heritage discuss similarities between Orthodoxy and Sufism. When reading the following sayings, connoisseurs of Islamic mysticism, which is known as Sufism, will find it very easy to notice similarities with Islamic spiritual teaching. It is noteworthy that some of the quoted spiritual men lived in the time before the great schism in 1054, and, therefore, belong to Christianity in general.
