Summary/Abstract: A research approach to learning in the teaching of nature and society requires the perfomance of experiments, in order to better understand and investigate certain changes and natural phenomena. During experiment the student observes the naturalities and changes in them, looking for answers to the asked questions and comes to certain knowledge experientially and solution to the given problems. The teaching process is aimed at encouraging and developing students’ natural science competence. This paper discusses the possibilities and advantages of applying experiments in the teaching of nature and society. In this context are presented the basic theoretical assumptions related to the application of experiments in the initial teaching of science and their importance and role are emphasized in primary science education.
