Summary/Abstract: Mihail Brunea is an artist with inexhaustible imagination who cleverly applies in his works his knowledge in the field of sciences, by seriously studying the fine arts and the philosophy of different epochs and cultures. The artist created book graphics for more than a hundred books by Moldavian and foreign authors, including „Praise of Nonsense” by Erasmus from Rotterdam „Master and Margarita” by Mikhail Bulgakov, „I am Robot” by Isaac Asimov, works by Stanislav Lem, Stiven Likok, Stugatsky Brothers, Ion Holban, Efim Tarlapan etc. The artist’s imagination generates an innovative combination of mathematical logic with fantasy and humor, emphasizing the creative awareness of the processes that influence the mentality of different historical periods. Associative compositional structures, based on a synthesis of concepts implemented in various materials, techniques and art genres, metaphor and grotesque, science fiction and narrative symbolism, as well as many other subtleties of illustrating literature of all genres, including popular science, determine the works of this author.
