Summary/Abstract: We must underline from the start the fact that the Romance linguistic atlases offer the researcher a rich inventory of linguistic facts, the vast majority of which are not known. We draw attention to the fact that the best known etymological dictionaries (REW, FEW, DEI etc.) ignore in most cases the existence in Romanian of Latin descendants, already attested in the Daco-Romanian dialects. Thus we can quote the Romanian word boroacă, Lat. veruca, Rom. mărit, Lat. maritus, Rom. a fişcura < Lat. fistulare, a bărăta < lat. balat(e)rare, a (se) gâmfa <Lat. *gonflare, a murseca<Lat. morsicare etc. In the second part of the paper we examine, based on the maps of the Italian linguistic atlas, a series of lexical parallelisms between Romanian and Italian. The examination of these maps allows the researcher to notice the existence of large compact and unitary dialectal areas, which, in some cases, are not merely similar, but identical with the maps of the Romanian atlas. We notice at the same time the existence of dialectal varieties, differing from of one Italian region to another. The study of these lexical concordances among the Romance languages, with respect to the elements inherited from Latin, allows the researchers of Romance languages to deepen the research concerning the linguistic relations among the Romance languages.
