Summary/Abstract: In this paper, we analyse the press market in Turkey between 2012 and 2020. We focus on the change in the ownership structure and ownership networks of media groups, the decline in newspaper and magazine readership, and the socio-political factors which led to the collapse of independent media in Turkey: protests in Istanbul in 2013 and the failed coup in 2016, corruption.
