Summary/Abstract: The deagrarianisation is a complex idea which refers mainly to issues related to agriculture, agricultural production and rural areas. Deagrarianisation processes lead to the reduction of economic importance of agriculture and agricultural production in the society as a whole and especially in relation to the rural economy and rural society. These processes need consideration in the following dimensions: production of agricultural goods, the con-tribution to national economy, socio-cultural aspects and ecological and landscape ques-tions. The article is an attempt to construct a composite indicator of the process of deagrari-anisation using variables obtained by official statistics. The proposed composite indicator of deagrarianisation is then used to assess the intensity of deagrarianisation of rural areas be-tween 2002 and 2010 in NUTS 4 units (Pol. poviat) of Wielkopolska Voivodeship.
