Summary/Abstract: The article presents the oldest treatise on political theology written in England and – a rare fact – in the vernacular. Written a few decades before the Great Schism and the Norman conquest of England, the text is an attempt by the most important clergyman of the time, Archbishop Wulfstan of York, to establish codes and standards of moral and spiritual conduct for the Church, royalty and his people.
