Summary/Abstract: The article presents a possible answer to the issue of validity of the Eucharist performed by the priest in the physical absence of the faithful, during the state of emergency caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. The theological reflection is based on an article by Fr. Ioan Ică Sr., which talks about the ways of Christ’s presence and communion with Him in the Holy Mass and in Orthodox spirituality. The text concludes that the objective validity of the Eucharist cannot be annulled by the physical absence of the faithful and that, even if they participate online in the Holy Mass, they still share in Christ, even if this communion is not a Eucharist. Fr. Ioan Ică Sr. describes the ways this happens.
