Summary/Abstract: Olteanu Antoaneta. Antonina V. Anistratenko's monograph “Alternative history as a meta-genre of Ukrainian and foreign prose: comparative genealogy and poetics”. ‒ Monograph. ‒ Chernivtsi: BSMU, 2020. ‒ 526 pp. review. The monograph by A. V. Anistratenko is a study dedicated to the issues of alternative history in Ukrainian and world literature. The author convincingly substantiated the relevance of the research topic, its purpose and objectives, the scientific novelty of the results obtained, as well as the methodological approaches used in the research. The structure and composition for the implementation of this goal are selected optimally. In practical sections, Ukrainian contemporary prose is considered in comparison with English, German, Polish, Czech, Russian works of artistic alternative history from the standpoint of the development of the genre and proof of the functioning of AI at the present stage as a meta-genre. Since the monograph by A. V. Anistratenko “Combinatorics for the historian (Alternative history as a meta genre of Ukrainian and foreign prose: comparative genealogy and poetics)” is an independent study containing the novelty of conclusions and practical value, I believe that it should be recommended for publication, popularization among students-philologists and scientists in the field of comparative studies, as well as the work is a new, original and important research, contains scientific results and analysis worthy of a doctoral dissertation, enriching literary science both in Ukraine and abroad.
