Summary/Abstract: The article is based on the musical folklore of the first half of the ХХ century. Methodical recommendations on the use of the educational potential of shooting and insurgent songs in history lessons in the senior classes of the Ukrainian secondary school are provided. The purpose of this study is to reveal the educational potential of shooting and insurgent songs in lessons of Ukrainian history in 10-11 grades of secondary school. The methodology is based on the analysis of the source base, which relates to the subject of research, the historical approach in the consideration of musical folklore of the first half of the twentieth century, as well as the accepted canons of teaching history lessons. Conclusions. In the rich folk song heritage of the Ukrainian people we could indicate a separate genre of “shooting” and “rebel” song. It was created by the new historical realities of the first half of the XX century. It also reflects the image of the world of the last century in Ukrainian folklore, the characteristics of events and figures, experiences and moods of Ukrainians of that time. It wasn’t published during the Soviet period for ideological reasons. Today, opportunities are open for its study and use in the education of patriotic citizens of independent Ukraine. The methods proposed in this article are only a call for a creative approach to the use of Ukrainian musical folklore in history lessons in secondary school.
