Summary/Abstract: n this study the evolution of the gifted and talented education was explored, followed by a discussion of disparity between the western and eastern culture in terms of perceptions of the gifted and talented, diagnosis of the gifted and talented, curriculum options, and service delivery models in these two cultures. Disparity in gifted education between rural and urban areas in China was also discussed in this paper. Recommendations about how to properly serve the gifted and talented were provided.
