Summary/Abstract: Developing the model of a modern teacher, one that will be able to face the challenges of the near future, should be a priority on the agenda of all institutions and facilities in Poland offering teacher training programmes. This programme must be extensive and continuous, drawing on the latest achievements of educators, psychologists, teaching methodologists and practitioners. Only a set of personality traits and specific competencies will enable teachers and educators to succeed in teaching and educational work.
