Summary/Abstract: The accelerated transformation of human society over the last decade is due, in an overwhelming fashion, to evolution in advanced technology, such as the implementation of computer algorithms and artifi cial intelligence in the sphere of society, the global expansion of the cybernetic environment, the emergence of IoT, and last but not least, the explosion of terrestrial and satellite broadband communications, which have generated the best support for the transfer of information and knowledge, globally. The transformation of human society, imposed by technology, has a profound impact on both, internal security of states and on power ratios between states, either through the emergence of new risks and threats, classifi ed as hybrids, or by changing the operational pattern of defense, security and intelligence structures. If, in the recent past, one of the main transformation vectors was the phenomenon of globalization (with ongoing effects), we are currently considering that expanding implementation of advanced technologies (Quantum Computing, Artifi cial Intelligence, IoT, Broadband Communications, Satellite, 5G) will require a paradigm shift in intelligence structures, both on structural evolution and on modus operandi. The rapidity with which deciding factors and key actors will perceive the possible ways of transformation and new opportunities for development will make the difference between „relevance and irrelevance”, between „reactive and pro-active” and between „existence and suppression”. In the current study, we aim to identify the characteristics of the future operative and informative environment generated and imposed by advanced intelligence technologies and, on the basis of these characteristics, to determine the possible directions of innovation and transformation of intelligence structures, in order to generate an adequate and effective response to future security challenges.
