Summary/Abstract: The defense attaché, as a military diplomat, has important responsibilities in diplomatic representation in the states where he is accredited and in the development and conduct of bilateral military co-operation. From the perspective of national security, the military attaché’s main missions are to: promote military cooperation (bilateral and multilateral), increase the contribution of the Romanian Armed Forces to regional and global stability, identify and report timely events and international developments that could affect national interests, achieving the interoperability of the Romanian Armed Forces with the armies of the NATO and EU member states and, last but not least, developing forms of cooperation with the armies of the partner states.
