Summary/Abstract: NATO is often described as the most successful and powerful Alliance in history, but the recent events may portray the Alliance as being in the middle of an internal crisis. Against this background, in December 2019, the Member States commissioned the Secretary General with the task of launching a forward-looking reflection process, aimed at adapting the Alliance in order to manage the future challenges. With a mixed approach between international relations and institutional theories, this paper looks at the NATO 2030 Reflection Process with the purpose of identifying the main directions of the next NATO Strategic Concept and those major ideas that will likely orient the future political and academic debates.
