Summary/Abstract: Folk art, being a reflexive expression of its creator, has the human being and its creation in its center. It is often conceived among the everyday worries of the farmer, but observes its millenary traditions, crystallized in the history and culture of the people. Thus, it is also an act of preservation and capitalization of our cultural identity through its various languages . That is why folk art has always been in the attention of all documentary filmmakers. This theme was successfully approached by the filmmakers: Emil Loteanu, Vlad Iovita, Vlad Druc, Pavel Balan, Iacob Burghiu, Andrei Buruiana, Ion Mija and others. The phenomenon of folk art was particularly imposed in the cinematographic creation of the director Anatol Codru. Those five films launched during his cinematographic career: Pe făgaşul talentului /On the Path of Talent/ (1971), Biografia cântecului/ The Biography of the Song/ (1973), Neam de pietrari /Kin of a brick layer/ (1975), Tălăncuţa / The Bell (1986), Roua de pe izvoare /The Dew at the Springs (1987) serve as evidence. In these films, the filmmaker Anatol Codru managed to make a synthesis of folk arts with that of cinematic discourse, thus enhancing its degree of valorization and giving it universal resonances.
