Summary/Abstract: Garfield is the main character of the Fat Cat 3-Pack series. In a very thoughtful way Jim Davis planned what the dream comics about the animal can look like. The receiver of the content has a chance to experience situations which are proper (and everyday) for the American fat cat. The culture meaning is especially important in the way Davis presented the world of Garfield. It is filled with the elements which are typical for the American world. At the same time every person can identify easily with this character of the story. Garfield does not differentiate from the man in the street, he has the same needs. What is more, he is extremely egoistic and sarcastic but it is probably connected with his cat nature. In the article there are the classifications of the Polish researchers of comics: Ewa Kowalewska, Dariusz Czywilis and Marcin Jaworski. They were used for the deep analysis of the Garfield texts and helped to develop the conclusions.
