Summary/Abstract: Seldom did the reuse of architectural pieces of ruined or dismantled temples from the area of the Dacian kingdom capital draw the attention of specialists. The general opinion is that this reuse is nothing but recycling of construction materials. The situations are more numerous than it was thought so far, and the circumstances seem to be diverse: pieces reused before or after year 106, either by the Dacians (during war or peace time), or by the Romans (after the conquest), from the temples wilfully dismantled by the community to those destroyed during conflicts. But an inventory and analysis of them suggests a few new directions of reflection with respect to the agents, reasons, and circumstances of their reuse. It can also be claimed that, besides the pragmatic motivation, some of these acts of reuse might have religious or magical motivation. Finally, we will need to revaluate the archaeological data in order to clear up the circumstances in which each temple ceased its activity, avoiding the constraints of some preconceived historical conclusions.
