Summary/Abstract: Exist numerous historiographical sources dedicated to the creation of fine artists Ilia Bogdesco and Leonid Grigorașenco. These personalities, representing the same generation, have proposed different, often opposite artistic objectives in their oeuvre, but it is certain that drawing constitutes the marrow of creation for I. Bogdesco and for L. Grigorașenco. Besides introductory studies for the catalogs about creation of I. Bogdesco, we highlight publications in which the artists express their own thoughts about creation, such as the edition “Circle by Circle”, which is important for perceiving the author’s artistic methods in written form. The creation of Leonid Grigorashenko, during the MSSR period, has been analyzed by his contemporaries, the art critics Matus Livshits and Dmitri Goltsov. The album about the artists’ creation was edited in the context of the series “Masters of the Basarabian Art of the Twentieth Century”, signed by the art critic Irina Calasnicov. The publication is titled “Another Grigorașenco”, which clearly suggests that, in addition to the artworks published for the first time, the author aims to show the personality of the artist from a different perspective than suggested by previously edited sources. Numerous editions about the evolution of art in RSSM, in which the work of the artists I. Bogdesco and L. Grigorasenco is described and analyzed, exist. Sources published during the RSSM often treat the artist’s personality unilaterally by referring to historical political concepts. The editions of the last decades tend to show the previously lesser-known aspects of the creation and mindset of these artists. It can be stated that to this date we do not hold extensive studies that would reveal the full scale of these personalities.
