Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the issues of teachers' social competences necessary to achieve life and professional success in the changing social reality. It describes social competences based on the model of social competences by Anna Matczak. The factor scales distinguished by the author concerning competences determining the effectiveness of behavior in intimate situations, competences determining the effectiveness of behavior in situations requiring assertiveness and social exposure have become the basis of empirical research. The results obtained from the research conducted among teachers allow us to conclude that most teachers are characterized by only an average level of social competences in terms of behavior in intimate situations, behaviors requiring assertiveness and social exposure.
