Summary/Abstract: This article is the result of an exploratory research proposing aninterdisciplinary approach in analysing and interpreting works of art in historyclasses in 4 and 5 grades of primary school (similar to grades 4 and 5 in Romania)in Quebec. This approach gives a double status to works of art, as aesthetic objectsand iconographic documents, with the aim of getting teachers and their students todo interpretative work which takes into account the aesthetic dimension of the worksof art. The research consisted of a modelling session in class (n = 4), followed by anexercise of watercolour analysis, which allowed us to observe how students combinethe sensitive reading and historical reading in their interpretative work.
