Summary/Abstract: Every nation has its own worldview reflected in the language whichdepends on customs and traditions, on the occupation and the lifestyle of the nation, whichkeeps ethno-cultural information and expresses specific ethnic mentality. The problemof interaction between language and culture is of interest to many scientists nowadays.One of the ways to study a culture is to analyze its phraseological units. For centuriesphraseological units have been keeping track of folk wisdom, which was passed fromgeneration to generation, so they carry culturally important information. Zoonyms ascomponents of phraseological units that realize a series of connotative semes, dependingon various associations connected with animals. Connotation is based on social, regional,cultural and other factors, as well as emotionally conditioned factors. The purpose of thearticle is to determine the semantic features of phraseological units with zoonym componentas well as to identify the universal and national characteristics of phraseological units in theEnglish language
