Summary/Abstract: In this article, Turkey-US relations will be examined in the period of Ahmet Gündüz Ökçün who was in Office in 1978-1979. The issues that most affected the relations in this period were the Cyprus Problem, the arms embargo against Turkey, the USA's desire to use the military bases in Turkey, the signing of the Defense Cooperation agreement and Turkey’s economic aids request. The course of the relations will be examined through the telegraphic correspondence between the US embassy and Washington. In this period, while relations with Turkey-USA reached the worst point in the history of the Republic, and after the embargo remained, it improved again. In this process, the main decision maker is Prime Minister Bülent Ecevit, while Ahmet Gündüz Ökçün appears to be only a practitioner.
