Summary/Abstract: The paper aims to analyze the impact that the period of financial market uncertainly, generated by the Covid 19 crisis, had on the private pension system in Romania. Thus, in order to reach the proposed objective, we approached a series of statistical techniques that allow us to study the evolution of the unit net asset value (NPV) of all pillar pension funds II and pillar pension funds III in Romania. I selected the emergency period (March 16-May 15, 2020), taking into account the evolution of new cases of illness with SARS-CoV-2 in Romania, France, Italy and Spain and the changes suffered by stock market indices. The empirical results gave us an overview of the dynamics in which we found that the private pension system was the least affected by this epidemiological context. I am confident that the empirical results should be of interest to fund participants and researchers.
