Summary/Abstract: In this paper the mutual influence of theology and the art of dance is taken into consideration. The central concept is the idea of spiritual dance, derived from the Bible (Acts 17:28) and developed to a formula of Christian spiritual life. To move in God, explained through the constant assistance of grace, is used as both the theoretical apprehension and practical tool to live the life in Christ. It implies that each human gesture could be interpreted as the performance of this relationship between man and God which was established by the creation, Incarnation, Redemption and Resurrection, according to the teaching of the Catholic Church. A professional dance on the stage makes an epitome and a symbol of this way of life. Furthermore, this idea is applied to the question of human dignity of disabled persons in order to show how various practices, connected with dance, could serve the task of experiencing life as a cooperation with God’s grace. The biblical and spiritual analysis is joined with the knowledge of the art of dance, as well as with some references regarding health sciences, which provides this research with an interdisciplinary quality.
