Summary/Abstract: This paper takes up, based on the teachings of Benedict XVI, the problem related to marriage vows, and thus love, fidelity and honesty. What has been presented in the paper is a positive and a still current teaching of the Church on marriage vows’ words. What has also been included is a reflection on the contemporary context which has a huge impact on the adoption of the moral teaching of the Church as well as on preserving the benefits of its requirements. Marriage vows’ words have a deep meaning which is not that always properly and entirely understood by today’s people. Marriage vow commits two persons to live together in truth with themselves and with God. It is a kind of “agreement” before God that strengthens the relationship and gives grace. By declaring their will to stay together in love, loyalty and honesty, the spouses also contribute to building the communion of the Church.
