Summary/Abstract: The aim of the research was to reveal the irreconcilable character of “Beatitudes” and “Woe unto you”. The contrast which they evoke makes the reader distinguish the true contrast between two worlds: the one which derives from the proclamation of the Kingdom of God and the one which is opposite to it. The very realization of coming of the Kingdom of God is inconceivable without the confrontation with the evil, which we find in the world. The aim of the exegetical analysis was to show that the experimental basis of all Beatitudes have to be found in the reality of the Kingdom of God. Everyone who stands by God with courage is filled with the light of glorified Jesus, whose everyday life reflected in the Gospels is the realization of Beatitudes. He gives the answer to the question, which the modern world sets for a man: what is happiness? The specific ways of its realization are strict, require hard work, but serve to find out the meaning of life, which all of people are invited to find after reading inspiring pages of the Gospel. The attention was focused on four structured topics: “the Kingdom of God” for “the poor” and “Beatitudes” against “Woe unto you”. There were also different categories of receivers that were not necessary for the analysis of the present research. The analysis of this text can inspire the investigation of better understanding of the community to whom the Gospel of Luke was written and provide recommendations regarding the functions and arrangement of the text, which is considered as the communicative event.
