Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to present the results of the only research in Poland on the issues of victimogenesis and criminogenesis of homosexual homicides. The subject of the first part of this series of publications is the psychosocial characterization of victims in the process of victimogenesis. Victims of this category of homicide are particularly vulnerable in terms of meeting their sexual needs. The analysis of the behavior of homosexual murder victims confirms that there is a close relationship with the direct contact relationship of the perpetrator and the victim, where the perpetrator’s actions are related to the victim’s behavior and sometimes even dependent on it. The study presents the psychosocial characteristics of victims in terms of victimological predestination, i.e. age, sex, social origin, education, profession, source of income and financial situation, marital and family status, housing situation and place of residence in relation to victimization tempore criminis. The distinctive features of homosexual murder victims were also compared with the victimogenesis of victims of other homicide categories, the results of which are presented in the criminological literature.
