Summary/Abstract: The current article presents the Estonian translation of a text that is known in scholarly literature as A Hymn to Marduk from Ugarit (tablet number R.S. 25.460). The text of the hymn has survived in one copy dating from ca. 14–13th century. The commentary added to the translation focuses on the motif of the „righteous sufferer“, traceable in the hymn and known most prominently from the biblical Book of Job and also from earlier ancient Near Eastern literature.
