Summary/Abstract: It is significant that a lot of space is given to the provisions concerning the problem of the protection of the child’s life in legal-criminal regulations ensuring the protection of the person’s rights. The aim of the article is presentation and analysis of criminal law provisions applying to the protection of the child’s life according to Criminal Code of the Kingdom of Poland of 1818. The Code made a considerable contribution to the development of Polish criminal law. Despite the fact that it was based on the foreign codifications, the act introduced a lot of solutions of Polish legal origin. In the article there are presented the crimes against life, where also a child as well as a child from the moment of conception could have been the victim. There were the crime of infanticide, the crime of termination of a pregnancy, and the abandonment of a child (if the death of a child was the effect of such activities). There are enlisted characteristic features of crimes and punishment for particular crimes. Currently, the analysis of legal problems and solutions and institutions which were applied may arouse strong emotions because all crimes mentioned in the article were punished very heavily.
