Summary/Abstract: The paper describes a previously unknown work of the famous 19th-century Italian painter Carlo Bossoli, made in the technique of lithography, during 1841-1842. It is the earliest image of the centre of the imperial part of Chișinău, which was slightly built at that time. At the same time, using archive data and memoirs of the age, in the article are described less known details concerning the stay of this painter in Bessarabia and the attempts undertaken to create a cycle of lithographs, dedicated to its historical and picturesque places. Naturally, an absolute novelty is the publication and insertion in the article of a copy of this lithograph. A copy of it is nowadays preserved in Chișinău and București.
