Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to investigate the relationship that Henrik Ibsen’s plays have with some contemporary gender and migration issues, examining examples noticed in México, United States and Canada, and making an in-depth analysis of the repercussion of the Norwegian author’s theatre. At the same time, the article analyses the current forms of interpretation of Ibsen’s plays, in relation to the social problems of México. Based on lectures given by the author of the article in various universities both in México and abroad, a valuable compilation has been made, resignifying Ibsen’s most important themes and the connection between Ibsen’s social and psychological dramaturgy and the conflicts of our lives in today’s reality. The study is significant, given the importance of Ibsen’s work around the world today: not coincidentally, Ibsen is the most staged playwright after W. Shakespeare.
