Summary/Abstract: After three decades from the fall of Ceausescu’s national-communism in Romania, the debates concerning the so called "cultural resistance" still continue to concern and agitate the public sphere. Our paper focuses, on one hand, on the complicated and confused meanings covering the notions of resistance and dissidence in the theatrical landscape of the last decade, 1980-1989, of Ceausescu’s regime, and tries to operate several nuanced distinctions. On the other hand, the research, based on the actual reviews of the period, tries also to dismantle the usual attitudes that, after 1989, tended to nourish the mythification of the normal artistic efforts to survive and, if possible, to subvert the ideological pressures using the theatrical discourses, by treating these efforts as dissident actions.
