Summary/Abstract: International financial turmoil and global instability which have recently intensified at international financial markets, have generated the need for finding a way to assess the firmness, i.e. strength and soundness of the global financial system, as well as its important dimension – international financial architecture. In relation to that, during the past years of the 21st century, the bulk of activities of international financial institutions were aimed at creating, defining and improving the so-called international macroprudential indicators (MPI), that is, indicators with the basic role of assessing the firmness, strength and soundness of the global financial system and financial architecture. Therefore, the main goal of this work is to systematize and show very important macroprudential indicators, the application of which has become increasingly important and fundamental in the analysis and reports of the financial institutions and organizations which monitor changes of the global economy’s institutional framework, better known as the international financial (monetary) system.
