Summary/Abstract: The study is devoted to analysis of nine letters from Slovak Jews, who requested the intervention of the Ministry of National Defence of the Slovak Republic, on the basis of their military service. Argumentation and stylization implicitly connect the letters. Recurring motifs show the central points of anti-Semitic discourse, concerning the confessional, national, cultural, political and ideological levels. This discourse is reflected from the opposite side with their authors striving to convince the ministry that although they are Jews, they personally do not have the traits stereotypically attributed to Jews. The aim of the text was to use concrete human stories to point to the rejectionist position of the ministry on the Jewish problem, the fascist nature of the political system in Slovakia of 1939–1945, and its antihuman principles.
