Summary/Abstract: In Brazil, the urban segregation is one of the most important aspects of social inequality. This segregation, along with a political-social feeling coupled with the marginal positioning of some social groups, culminated in the emergence of an independent cultural production network whose novelty consists in the representation and dissemination of local identity. Marginal Literature is one of these manifestations, in this type of literature, the authors of the works are marginalized by a society that does not give them ears or voice. They found in writing a way to show their revolt and the search for social and ethnic recognition. The purpose of this article is to present a little of this literary production of the last 20 years in Brazil, its peculiarities, forms and themes.
