Summary/Abstract: At the turn of 1920–1921 the invitation of the leaders of the Christian Democratic Party, Lithuania was visited by French abbot Charles Quénet. In the conditions of the PolishLithuanian conflict regarding the ownership of the Vilnius region, countries tried to find common ground for a way out of this situation. Christian diplomacy was supposed to lay the foundation for a dialogue between Catholic politicians. The mission of the French abbot did not bring tangible political results, but contributed to intercultural dialogue and led to the realization of the true reasons for the desire of the Lithuanian people for an independent existence. In his travel notes, Quénet outlined the need for a review of French policies regarding Lithuania.
