Summary/Abstract: In 2016, a treasure hunter discovered an axe on the territory of the locality of Hărău (Hunedoara County). The study of the artefact revealed that it pertains to the Fajsz type and that it can be dated during the Early Bronze Age.The article describes in detail the aforementioned object and then pursues with observations regarding its XRF investigation. This analysis determined which was the metal used for manufacturing the item, as well as the corrosion compounds which are present on the surface of the object. The chosen restoration method was based on the principle of respecting the integrity of the artefact, as a consequence of the preservation of its noble patina. Furthermore, the reagents and materials employed in the restoration process have been subordinated to the principles of compatibility and reversibility. Hence, We have chosen the method of chemical cleaning in an aqueous solution of sodium hexametaphosphate. The paper sets forth the applied techniques and the arguments for their usage.
