Summary/Abstract: Recently, in the village of Şard (Ighiu commune, Alba County), a unique Roman altar was discovered. It was found stuck at the top of peak Dealu Ciorotii (Ciorotul Hill). The monument is currently in a precarious state of preservation, after having been repeatedly destroyed throughout the years. It is an anepigraphic altar that in more recent times received a modern inscription (T. Silviu). We do not know whether the lithic item remained in the same place or it was moved from another context. We must also note, in the vicinity of the monument, the existence of an old quarry, perhaps from the beginning of the Roman era, bearing the markings of the exploitation of sandstone blocks. Moreover, the area is particularly known for the existence of the stone quarries from Ighiu and Şard, exploited from the Antiquity to the modern era, around which there is a series of roman vestiges. This areal was, at the time of Roman Dacia, located at the crossroards between the Apulum-Brucla imperial road and the road from Apulum to Ampelum.
