Summary/Abstract: The aim of this work is to determine residents’ desire for potential tourism development (measured by Potential Tourism Development Scale). In that point, this study provides a model that determines residents' (n= 660) attitudes toward existing tourism development (measured by Tourism Impact Attitude Scale), what causes those attitudes, and in turn how residents’ attitudes toward tourism development influence their desire for potential tourism development by applying the value-belief norm (VBN) theory. Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) findings indicated the intimacy that exists between residents and tourists (measured by Emotional Solidarity Scale) was antecedents of residents’ attitudes toward tourism development (R2 SMC for support for tourism development is 0.52 and contributions to community is 0.60). Ultimately, residents’ attitudes regarding tourism development predicted their desire for potential tourism development (R2 SMC for service tourism development is 0.12and sustainable tourism development 0.14).
