The Autobiographical Narrative Interview – Ethical and Methodological Issues in the Context of Narratives’ Archiving

Summary/Abstract: In the paper I refer to contemporary archiving activities and in this context I comment on ethical and methodological aspect of autobiographical narrative interview which is used in social sciences. One of the ethical assumptions is anonymization of one’s life story in order to keep an informant’s privacy. Following these procedures informed consent is not required as the very situation of interviewing is defined as trust relation. I also refer to the issue of ‘eternal’ quality of some biographical materials which in time change their status from sociological qualitative data into oral history materials.
