Summary/Abstract: The lychnological material from Roman Hispania includes a little-known type of wheel-made oil lamp that has recently been studied for the first time: a form of small dimensions, produced between the 1st and 3rd centuries AD. Most of the known finds are from Cartagena, hence the idea that the type may have originated from this harbor. The paper reviews the available data on this lamp production and suggests a specific functionality for the type based on some peculiar characteristics.
