Summary/Abstract: The pioneer organization was established as a public organization, but gradually merged with educational institutions. It was the bottom step of the Communist Party and aimed to indoctrinate children and educate them as Soviet citizens loyal to the Motherland and the Party. After the reoccupation of Bessarabia by the USSR, the Soviet Power aimed to make the entire population of the country literate but in accordance with the “values” of the official ideology and politics. The establishment of the Soviet culture based on the Marxist-Leninist ideology, the substitution of the old tradition with “revolutionary traditions” led to transformations of the identity of the population of the USSR, including of the Moldovan SSR. The pioneer organization became part of Soviet culture but also a factor in the formation of the new identity. Pioneer organizations became part of educational institutions, involved children in politico-ideological activities and events, practiced communist behavior, carried out communist and atheist propaganda among children and adults, and formed Soviet skills and knowledge. As a result of the complex action on children’s personality, the pioneer organization in partnership with the ideological educational system formed a new identity in children – “Soviet Man” (“Homo Sovieticus”).
