Summary/Abstract: The subject of the article is to analyze the results of research conducted by members of the Criminological Research Club of the University of Warsaw. The study concerned the phenomenon of victimization among students of the University of Warsaw, understood as a process of becoming a victim as a result of experiencing a crime. The main aim of the research was to establish the number of students who had become victims of particular crimes. The essence of our research was also to obtain information from the respondents about whether the crime had been reported to the police, in order to determine how many crimes constitute the so-called ‘dark number’ of crimes. The research also included issues related to students’ sense of security in the area where they live and their fear of particular types of crime. The research was conducted on a random sample of students from different departments of the university, using a standardized questionnaire.
