Summary/Abstract: Muscat, RISM’s central cataloging program since 2016, is a framework for cataloging music documents (handwritten and printed music scores). It is now being released as a multilingual, open source, web-based, platform-independent program, available free of charge to anyone who is interested. The paper refers to certain pilot projects undertaken by the Greek RISM Office since 2017, referring mainly to recording in Muscat bibliographic and authority metadata regarding either archival music resources, e.g. the Mavropoulos Archive, a collection of sixty-eight Byzantine chants, handwritten by Nikolaos Mavropoulos, or authority metadata regarding music-related holding institutions in Greece, e.g. the launch of Project Group on RISM Series C.The paper gives emphasis on the benefits that performing similar tasks can have, both in and out of Greece.
