Summary/Abstract: The author of the article reflects on the issue of the subjective dimension of self-government. Throughout his scrutiny, he considers ideas worked out by Karol Wojtyła (John Paul II) and Władysław Stróżewski. First, he describes the concept of self-determination as referred to the human person and points out that self-determination as if ontologically postulates self-governance. Then he reflects on the issue of the collective subject perceived as a realm of personalistic implementation of self-governance. The thesis of the article states that self-governance develops in a democratic system which enhances self-determination.
